Hi, I'm Marie.

I write about men, relationships and the gap between what's said and what's meant.

Relationships Understanding Men Affair Sugar Dating

Who I am

I'm 31, I live in Cologne, and for years I've been preoccupied with a question that sounds banal and isn't at all: what do men actually want? Professionally I come from communications consulting; privately I was long the friend everyone called when they couldn't decode a message. At some point I started writing the answers down.

Was-Männer-Wollen.info isn't about tricks or the usual clichés. It's about what really happens in conversations between men and women – and why so many misunderstandings aren't disagreements at all, but translation errors.

How it all started

After a relationship that lasted six years and ended in four sentences, I wanted to understand what I had missed. I started reading, talked to couples therapists and, above all, asked men directly. Friends, colleagues, strangers. Surprisingly, the most honest answers came from men I met through sugar dating – simply because expectations are discussed openly there from the very start.

It's exactly this openness that is almost always missing in regular dating. It's the reason I write today instead of guessing.

What you'll find here

Every article comes from real conversations and my own experience, not from an advice-column template. I write for women who want to understand men without bending themselves out of shape – and for men who occasionally can't quite figure themselves out either.

  • How men think about closeness, distance and commitment
  • How to tell what someone is really looking for – a relationship, an affair or an arrangement
  • Communication without games: saying what you expect instead of hoping
  • Honest insights into sugar dating and why clarity is a given there

Let's stay in touch

I'm happy to hear from you – whether it's a question, a topic request or your own story. You can also find me on MySugardaddy, the platform where I had many of the conversations this blog grew out of.
